The type B was available in 6, 8,&10" sizes and had a cob breacker in it. It had a flywheel behind the belt pulley, at least on the early models.

Grand pa raised enough ear corn to feed his small dairy herd. Now that I think on it, the thing had a ear breaker roll in the hopper so the ear corn would feed into the burrs. After he passed, no one understood the thing and it hasn't been used since 64. I never could get the mill, so I sourced another from a friend up north.

Finding a scrap piece of large diameter pipe or tubing with the correct (or close) radius and fabricating from that would be easiest.

Re: I-H 8 Burr mill (Belt driven) in reply to Bob Kerr, 09-20-2009 20:15:53 Oh yeah, When I was gringing cornmeal for folks, I used a Mc Cormick-Deering hand crank cornsheller, then put the shelled corn through a Clipper seed cleaner to clean up the chaff and other debris the sheller made and then fed it to the mill.

Age. 43. Jun 11, 2007. #3. 8" diameter pulley sounds kinda small for a Letz. My letz has a much larger pulley which is probably around 12-14". If I remember correctly, I beleive the 8" mills (8" grinding plate diameter) would have been on the order of 6-8hp required. Again, that is required hp to run at capacity.
